Description
Silicon carbide is an extremely hard material, very resistant to wear and thermal shocks. Ideal for advanced applications such as heat exchangers or military applications, it can also be polished for the creation of mirrors for the aerospace industry.
Advantages:
- High density
- High mechanical strength and hardness
- Thermal stability and resistance to wear
- Chemically inert

Filament Storage
It is very important to protect the filament from moisture and moist air to keep the print quality. Always store the filament in the heated chamber, vacuum sealed (with desiccant), or in a dry-box.
1. Print Settings
Select ZYYX – SiC in Simplify3D. The model needs to be scaled up to 120.2% in x+y and 129.2% in z to compensate for sintering shrinkage.
If used with other printers, we recommend
2. Chemical Debinding
24 hours in an acetone bath at 40 °C (it depends on the geometry of the part), stop the heat a couple of hours before removing it from the bath (when the mass loss over 12%).
Finally 2 hours drying in ambient atmosphere.
3. Thermal Debinding
Heating from 50 °C to 700 °C with a 10°C/h ramp, 1 hour holding time. Under Argon athmosphere (Ar 90 mbar).
4. Sintering
In a high temperature furnace with Argon and partial vacuum (Ar 90 mbar), heating up to 2200 °C with an up to 300 °C/h ramp. 1 hour holding time. Cooling 100 °C/h.
